No Pressure, No Obligation

At Grace Gospel Church, we do not solicit funds or mandate a formal tithe during our Sunday services. We believe worship should never feel burdened by financial compulsion or awkward expectation.

If you are visiting, seeking truth, or wrestling with pressing personal needs, please let our ministry be a sanctuary for you—not an obligation. Your presence with us is a gift in itself.

From the Law to Grace: A Theological Shift

Under the Old Covenant, the Levitical priesthood required a legalistic tenth (tithe) of the people’s spoils to sustain the temple. But under the New Covenant, Jesus Christ came as our eternal High Priest (Hebrews 7), bringing a profound change of the law:

  • Grace Over Mandates: We are no longer governed by rigid percentages or external coercion.
  • Heart Over Obligation: The Apostle Paul wrote that when the early church gathered on the first day of the week, believers gave simply "as God hath prospered him" (1 Corinthians 16:2), ensuring that stewardship was proportional, willing, and grounded in freedom.
  • Pure in Spirit: Whether someone gives abundantly or gives a single penny like the widow in the Gospels, God looks solely upon the sincerity of the heart.

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

Scripture teaches that authentic Christian stewardship flows naturally from personal conviction and thanksgiving:

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
— 2 Corinthians 9:7

If you are debating how much to give, feeling pressured, or struggling with difficult circumstances, scripture invites you to care for your household first without guilt. True giving is never a transaction to earn God’s favor; it is a grateful response to the One who "though He was rich, yet for your sakes became poor" (2 Corinthians 8:9).
